Major
depressive disorder can lead severe mental disorder along with some
complications which affect a person’s both personal and professional life. The person
with major depression can experiences single episode of depressed mood or might have to deal with the several number of depressed mood.
It can
affect at any gender or age. But the number of victims may vary according to
the age or gender. Such as, the recent study shows that in the adult age, the
women develop major depressive disorder twice than men. In addition this
illness can hit both genders between 25-44 ages. But major depression becomes
less common for people above 65 years. Moreover, the depressive rate is same
between the teenager girl and teenager boy. The two main symptoms of major
depressive illness are mood shift and lack of interest. But there are other
signs and symptoms which people often experience due to major depression such
as:
- Change of appetite
- Irregular sleep
- Feeling of hopelessness
- Sense of worthlessness
- Poor concentration or Indecisiveness
- Agitation
- Isolation from social life
- Repeated suicidal thoughts
- Lack of energy at every work
- Anxiety etc.
But the
all people with unipolar disorder may not experience same symptoms. It can vary
from person to person. Someone can gain weight, where someone can lose weight.
Someone may face sleeping disorder and become irritated whereas someone may become hopeless and develop the sense of worthlessness.
There
are several factors which are contributed in the mental state of any person and
lead major depression. The most common reason behind major depressive illness
is the genetic. It can be inherited from parents or siblings. Some evidence represent
that the rate is 1.5 or 3 times more in those person who have a medical history
of depression. People can also be attacked by major depressive disorder without
any previous history or medical record of this illness. The other reasons which can trigger major depressive disorder are, poor relationship, any painful
memory, failure of study or work, negative image of life, extra pressure both
at work and home, pregnancy, other illness, irregular sleeping pattern or any other stressful event of life.
Major
depressive disorder interrupts in the regular life and reduce the ability to perform
daily activities, such as eating, working, studying even in other pleasurable
activities. Sometimes,
major depression attacks a person only 1 time or sometimes it can attack a
person several times during his/her lifetime.
Major
depression is one of the severe forms of mental disorder. The rate of suicidal
death is high among the sufferer of major depressive disorder comparing to
other mental disorders.
This
illness is a serious mental disorder, taking medicines and receiving therapy
like cognitive, interpersonal therapy can be very helpful for the recovery of
major depression disorder.
